March 2016 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box

Y’all it’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box reveal day, and March’s box was chock-full of fancy, deluxe-sized goodies! If this is the first time you’re hearing about this rad subscription service, it’s a monthly beauty box ($22.95/month with free shipping) that delivers 4-7 vegan and cruelty-free items (ranging from unique cosmetics to luxurious skincare) right to your doorstep. It’s the easiest way to discover cruelty-free brands without committing to full-size products or prices. You can sign up for this beauty box here. You can also peep my past Vegan Cuts Beauty Box reviews here.

March’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box included:

Shea Radiance Black Soap Cleanser,* $5 – Ooh, I just tried this out on my face (can also be used as a body wash and shampoo), and my skin feels super clean and refreshed. It’s made with purifying African black soap and antioxidant-rich and moisturizing colloidal oatmeal. I LOVE that it’s scented with pink grapefruit, lavender, and spearmint… smells absolutely PERFECT. I also appreciate the all-natural ingredients: Distilled Water, Black Soap Base (Saponified Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Palm Oil with ash from cocoa and/or plantain pods), Colloidal Oatmeal and Essential Oils.

Everclēn Eye Cream, $20 – I’m a 30-something, and eye creams are, well, everything. While this eye cream clearly states that it doesn’t contain soap, fragrance, parabens, gluten, phthalates, petroleum, colors, or DEA’s it does contain some ingredients I’m still not totally down with.

Peep the full list yourself: sodium lauryl sulfatewater (aqua), caprylic/capric triglyceride, glyceryl stearate, cetyl alcohol, glycerin, cetearyl alcohol, PEG-100 stearate, dimethicone, stearic acid, cetearyl glucoside, tocopherol, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) flower extract, camellia sinensis leaf extract, vitis vinifera (grape) seed oil, bisabolol, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, sodium hyaluronate, panthenol, PEG/PPG-4/12 dimethicone, silica, xanthan gum, phenoxyethanol, benzyl alcohol, aminomethyl propanol

I just wanna mention really fast that Vegan Cuts doesn’t promote their beauty box as being non-toxic or anything (although I’ve noticed them heavily leaning in that direction, which is beyond hella rad), so this is just a me gripe.

Everclen eye cream

Earthlab Cosmetics Black Mineral Eye Liner Pencil, $20 – I love being able to add to my all-natural eyeliner collection. Although I’ve been rockin’ cat eye pretty much exclusively lately, I def enjoy some dark smudgy action from time to time. The ingredients in this are super pure and especially great for those with sensitive eyes like myself. Ingredients: Jojoba Oil, Castor Seed Oil, Carnauba Wax, Candelilla Wax, Ozokerite Wax, Vitamin E, Mica, Iron Oxides

Dermorganic 8 Way Thermal Spray, $10 – This mostly organic thermal spray, which is made with argan oil, EFA lipids and rice amino acids, is supposed to eliminate tangles, protect against heat (up to 450 degrees), and strengthen hair. As someone who constantly abuses her mane with bleach, styling tools, and excessive yankage (I’m so sorry sweet, lil’ hairsies o’ mine), this stuff intrigues me. I haven’t tried this out yet but I’m very much looking forward to giving it a whirl later this week.

Pacifica Tunisian Jasmine Lime Roll-On Perfume,* $12 – This is actually my third bottle of this stuff! The other 2, I bought at Pacifica’s retail store right here in Portland – WOOT! I adore this scent and it’s perfect for spring, too, as it has hints of limes, jasmine, and orange flowers. As with all Pacifica items, this one is free of toxic ingredients, and I have to take a moment to gush about their adorable unicorn packaging. Even if this stuff smelled like fermented monkey butt, I would prolly buy it because it makes my eyeballs happy. 🙂

October Fields Chamomile and Clover Tealight Candle,* $1 – Ooh, mama LIKES! I’m a bit of a candle freak, and this lil’ non-GMO vegan soy tealight candle smells hella sexy – gonna use this for date night. 😉

Overall impression: There’s a lot of bang for the buck in this month’s beauty box (everything together is valued at $68!), and it was a lovely mix of skin care, hair care, and makeup! Box faves: Shea Radiance Black Soap Cleanser, Pacifica roller ball perfume, and the gorgeous scented tealight candle from October Fields.
